Call for Papers in the Thematic Issue of the Journal Društvena istraživanja: „Monuments Heritage and the First World War Cultural Memory"

We invite authors to submit their papers for the thematic issue of Društvena istraživanja: "Monuments Heritage and the First World War Cultural Memory ". The guest editors are dr. sc. Ljiljana Dobrovšak and dr.sc. Sandra Cvikić (Institute of Social Sciences Ivo Pilar).

In the period from 2014 to 2018, the Centenary of the First World War was celebrated all over the world. Numerous institutions (museums, archives, institutes, associations, etc.) took part in the celebration of the centennial in Croatia, thus provoking a great interest among the Croatian public through activities (works, exhibitions, shows, etc.) related to various aspects of this highly neglected subject of Croatian history. Namely, after the end of the First World War, Croatia found itself in a new state (the Kingdom of SHS/Kingdom of Yugoslavia). This state, however, has brought together nations that fought on both sides of the conflict – the winners and losers, thereby resulting in different attitudes towards the First World War’s heritage. Although previously marginalized, the last twenty years have been marked by a great number of new historical studies about the First World War. Still, insufficient attention is given to the monumental heritage, namely, the memorials to the soldiers killed in that war. Some of the sub-themes related to this topic are:

  • The First World War and Cultural Memory
  • The Centenary of the First World War
  • The politics of remembrance
  • First World War memorials and monuments
  • The First World War cemeteries
  • the First World War and the Kingdom of SHS/Yugoslavia.

All papers received for the thematic issue must be edited in accordance with the instructions for authors and are subject to the usual procedure of double anonymous review, without the guarantee that they will be included in the thematic issue.

All papers must be submitted in English to the Editorial Board in electronic form via the Open Journal System on the journal's website by clicking Submit Manuscript.

When submitting the paper, select Suggestions for Theme Issue as the type of paper. Only papers submitted through the system will be included in the review process and are considered for publication.

The submission deadline is February 15, 2022.

Sincerely,

Guest Editors

-          Digitalna transformacija i hrvatsko gospodarstvo

-          Digitalna transformacija i država

-          Digitalna ekonomija u Hrvatskoj: mit ili stvarnost?

-          Digitalna transformacija i rad

-          Sociologija i digitalna transformacija

gost urednik

prof.dr.sc. Drago Čengić
